Well read if uneducated, Optic Arrest takes a manic depressive approach to pop; one moment singing sweet harmonies above clean guitars and piano before devolving into belted chants and blistering solos. Ever skirting the edge between burnout and defiance, they skewer religion, class politics and examine the existential dread of keeping it together while maintaining a sincerity that makes it impossible to be cool. They draw influence from the likes of They Might Be Giants, The Violent Femmes, The Twilight Zone, and old horror movies more or less.

Though hard to pin down genre-wise, their sound has often been described as 90’s alternative adjacent with a beachy vibe. Those who enjoy Optic Arrest would also be fans of Weezer, The Flamings Lips and Built To Spill to name a few.
